Cooperation Between Horse Rider and Man
The Silverton Skijoring competition took place on February 15-16, 2014
This annual event is attracting some quality horses, horseman, and skiers from around the area. The excitement of the race and the flavor of Silverton’s notorious Blair Street draws daring skiers looking to be towed at breakneck speed down a slalom course with jumps and rings which are grabbed by both the rider and skier as they pass. Spectators see and feel the thunder of the hooves racing down the track as the snow flies. The event was founded by a two residents of the town. With the cooperation of police, public works, and the enthusiasm of the volunteers and the public, the event went off without a hitch. There was one injury to a participant and she was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
